We feel that all of our kittens and puppies should be companions. Some of them may be shown or breed as well, but they are pets first. Since we live with our puppies and kittens every day, tripping over them several times a day, we feel that we know their personalities very well. Please allow us to make some suggestions. Some are more outgoing, bold even. They will be a little more challenging than average. Others can be more sensitive and shy. These will make tender loving pets with a laid back owner, but may not enjoy a setting like a home day-care with many small children. As they grow and mature we grade our youngsters as "Pet", "Breed/Performance" and "Show" quality. "Pet" quality means that the puppy or kitten is healthy and happy but may have something that would prevent him or her from excelling in the show or performance world. Perhaps their coat color or ear set is not ideal. They may lack the intense drive that would allow them to compete in performance events. In short, they will make a wonderful, loving companion. "Breed/Performance" youngsters may not be show standard perfect, but have genetic traits and qualities that we feel could be beneficial to the next generation. They have exceptional drive and will probably excel in non-breed ring competition if properly trained, conditioned, and handled. "Show" quality youngsters are ones we feel are likely to do well in the breed ring if properly trained, groomed, conditioned, and handled. We can not guarantee that any youngster will fulfill the requirements for any title, as so much of what they will become will be based on their experiences and handling with you. Please remember that neutered cats can compete for Premier points and earn a Premier certificate. This is "champion status" for a cat that has been neutered. The Australian Shepherd Club of America, ASCA, also offers an A-Ch title. This a championship title that is offered to neutered dogs. In both cases the neutered animal competes against other neutered animals of the same sex.
All kittens and
puppies sold as pets must be neutered (spayed for females and castrated for
males). Their "blue slips" will be marked "not for
breeding" and will be forwarded to you after we receive a neutering
certificate from your veterinarian. Neutering is the smart thing to do.
It enhances the companion qualities of any animal. They will be
less likely to roam, fight, and urinate or defecate inappropriately. There
are many health benefits as well.
Below is a copy of our
Cat/Kitten contract. Please read through it, you will see that it is
designed to protect the cat, the buyer, and the seller.

The
Purchaser agrees to continue Program (Lufenuron) Treatment at the dose of
100 mg per kg. Program will be given every two weeks for the first two
months, then monthly thereafter as a preventative for fleas and fungus.

is made with the following Conditions:
 This
cat is sold as a companion. This cat will not be sold, leased, or given
away to another party, pet shop, or research facility. If the purchaser
decides to otherwise relocate this cat, BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery will be
given 30 days advance notice and the right of first refusal. BirchCrest
Kennel & Cattery may elect to accept back the cat, the purchaser may proceed with the intended
relocation.
This
cat is sold as an indoor cat. This cat will not be caged or tethered
outside. This cat will not be allowed to roam free or unsupervised
outside.
This
cat will receive proper veterinary care and vaccinations annually.
This
cat is sold as quality.
If
sold as Show Quality BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery cannot
make any guarantee to this cat's ability to obtain any title. As the
ability to obtain a title depends on the nurturing, training, grooming, and
conditioning of a cat. The cat will be free of any disqualifying
defects.
If
sold as Breeder Quality BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery cannot
make any guarantee as to this cat's ability to produce offspring with any
certain characteristics.
If
this cat is sold as Pet Quality and has not already been neutered the
purchaser agrees to have this cat neutered by a qualified veterinarian
within 10 days or before this cat is 9 months old. The Purchaser
further agrees that this cat will not be used for stud or
breeding at any time before the cat is neutered or spayed .
BirchCrest
Kennel & Cattery will provide the purchaser with a pedigree and
registration papers at the time of the sale (or within________________ days
of the sale) if the cat is already neutered at the time of the sale or if
the cat is purchased as Breeder or Show quality. If the cat is
purchased as Pet quality, the registration papers will be held until
BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery receives signed and dated certification from a
qualified veterinarian that the cat has been neutered.
The
Purchaser agrees that the cat's registered name shall begin with “BirchCrest”.
If
the cat is purchased as Show or Breeder quality and the cat is found to be
sterile or have genetic defects which make it unsuitable as a breeding cat
BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery will offer a replacement cat of similar quality when available upon the
surrender of the defective cat and the cat's registration papers.
The
purchaser agrees to have the cat examined by a qualified veterinarian within
3 days of purchase, at the purchaser's expense. If the veterinarian
finds and certifies the cat to be sterile or have a genetic disorder or
abnormality that will make it unsuitable as a Show or Breeder cat (if
purchased as a Show or Breeder), or as a companion if purchased as a Pet,
BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery will accept the cat back and refund the
purchase price upon confirmation from BirchCrest's veterinarian.
If
during the first 14 days after purchase BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery
receives veterinary certification from the purchaser that the cat is
chronically ill, deformed, or died of natural causes, not caused by neglect
or mistreatment by the purchaser, BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery will offer a replacement cat when
available, upon confirmation from BirchCrest's veterinarian. The
Purchaser shall surrender the cat and the cat's registration papers at time of replacement.
BirchCrest
Kennel & Cattery will not assume any veterinary expenses that are not
pre-approved in the treatment of the cat under the above conditions. Veterinary
care is the purchaser's responsibility.
Nor does BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery
assume any travel expenses for the cat or a replacement to or from the
cattery.
BirchCrest
Kennel & Cattery makes no guarantee as to the health or quality of this
cat except as noted above. Nor does BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery
assume any other financial responsibilities to the purchaser.
If
this cat is found to be neglected, mistreated, or abused the purchaser shall
surrender the cat to BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery immediately and
unconditionally. No financial compensation will be offered in this
case. The purchaser will immediately surrender the cat's registration
papers and will reimburse BirchCrest Kennel & Cattery for all reasonable
costs to reclaim the cat including but not limited to legal expenses.
This
agreement is made and enforceable under the laws of the state of New
Hampshire and Hillsboro County at the time of the sale.

conditions, if any, present and acknowledged at time of Sale:
